The lectors here at St. John Vianney are privileged to carry on thet ministry of being messengers of God's word. When the Scriptures are read in the assembly, the presence of the revealing God becomes alive and real in our midst. Readers are chosen carefully, based on their calling to the ministry. They must be dedicated to formation; both of their faith and of their skills to minister effectively. A good lector needs a voice that is large enough and strong enough to be heard in a public place. Confidence counts, and it comes from studying and preparing the readings. Also, a sensitivity to language in order to handle the wide range of prose and poetry in the Bible.

Lectors are scheduled to serve every other week on a rotating Mass assignment.
