As Catholics, the Eucharist and the Mass are the "source and summit" of our life, as described by the Vatican II council bishops. Our Mass comes to us down through the centuries in a form that is ancient. The 2 parts of the Mass are:

• The Liturgy of the Word where God speaks to us through his words in scripture and we respond with our faith through the Creed and our petitions for ourselves and the world in which we live.
• The Liturgy of the Eucharist where, through the words spoken by a priest, Jesus becomes really present to us in his Body and Blood that we worship and then consume so that we might be filled with his presence as we bring his word into our world.

Our faith makes it imperative that we come weekly to celebrate this great mystery of our faith and be filled with the graces we need to live as disciples of Christ.
